The growing interest in biotherapeutic methods is one of the most evident tendencies in the development of contemporary medicine. More and more often traditional methods are being preferred over conventional ones. Apitherapy represents one of the main trends in traditional Russian medicine. Notwithstanding a centuries-long history of apitherapy in Russia, many consider it a relatively new trend in medicine. However, bee venom therapy dates back to ancient Russia and had always been a traditional treatment for many diseases.Apitherapy is the part of contemporary medicine that studies healing properties of beekeeping products. Honey, propolis, royal jelly, pollen load, bee bread and beeswax have been widely used as therapeutic agents for many centuries. In this book are summarised the treatment schemes which we have been offering to the patients in our Centre during the last 15 years.Summarising the experience of previous years, we have come to the conclusion that apitherapy is a universal trend in the development of medicine that allows us to fight a great number of diseases. Today the effectiveness and safety of this method is without doubt. This book is primarily aimed at medical practitioners and nurses, however we hope that it will be interesting for a wider reading audience, as many methods and recipes in this book are easy to use. Tentorium Apicenter was set up in 1989 in the city of Perm, Russia. It was the first apitherapy consulting ward in the Perm region, which was opened by Nailya Khismatullina. Its goals are to help the patients and to develop apitherapy as a biotherapeutical method of treatment. Over 14 000 patients have been already treated there. The researchers of the Center obtained some very encouraging research results in treatment of psoriasis, sensorineural deafness, bronchial asthma, epilepsy and some other diseases. The Centre team is currently developing a range of techniques that can be used for treating female tubal and hormonal infertility, male impotence and prostatitis.
